Hexbound — A Solo Hex Crawl
A downloadable hex crawl
Open the file and you are already playing.
Hexbound is a solo hex crawl in a single HTML file. You get a map, a job, and eighteen days of supplies. You do not know where the thing you are looking for is. You walk until you find out.
Why this one
- A complete crawl, not a toolkit. The map is generated, the job is generated, the sites are generated. Nothing to prepare, nothing to print, nothing to cut out.
- Every run is a different map. 30 hexes, seven terrain types, twelve kinds of site, eight jobs.
- One file, no install, no internet. Double-click index.html. That is the whole setup.
- About ten minutes a run. Built to be played in one sitting, then again tomorrow with a new map.
How it plays
- You start with 18 supplies. Moving costs 1, or 2 through marsh, mountains and waste. At 0 the run is over.
- You can see the ground around you, but you only find out what is in a hex by standing in it.
- Some hexes hold a shrine or the wrong light. Those give you a clue: how far, and in which direction. The first clue also puts the goal marker on your map — until then you are guessing.
- Reach the goal hex and roll 2d6 plus your clues (max +3). Beat 10 to finish.
Sites resolve on 2d6: 9+ it goes your way, 6–8 it costs you, 5 or less it costs you more. Caches and old camps give supplies back.
What you get
- Generated hex map with fog of war
- Twelve site types, from standing stones to sealed jars
- Clue system that reveals the goal instead of handing it to you
- Supply clock that ends the run if you overreach
- Full log of every move, roll and discovery
- One-click Markdown export
- Autosave, so you can close the tab and come back
Technical
- One HTML file. No dependencies, no build step, no network requests.
- Works in any modern browser on Windows, macOS and Linux.
- Your run is saved in your browser's local storage. Clearing browser data clears it, so export first.
What it is not
- Not a rules engine for another system. It uses no one else's tables and needs no published book.
- Not a virtual tabletop. It is the thing you keep open next to your notebook.
- Not a campaign. It is one crawl; play it again and you get a different one.

Will there be updates?
Yes — buy once, updates are free.
